9 Round Plano

I am very excited to start my experience of finding the best fitness spots in the DFW metroplex with 9 Round Plano. I think I started sweating at this place before round 1 even began. 9 Round Plano is a franchise started by two former professional baseball players: Jordan Scott and Kyle Redinger. These two have a passion for working out, and wanted to use the skills they learned from their pro days to incorporate intense circuit training workouts for only 30 minutes. I unfortunately did not get the chance to work with Jordan, but I did work with Kyle and two other personal trainers: Daniela and Steven. I absolutely LOVED all three of them. They made me feel welcome the moment I walked in. After leaving the 1st day, I already felt like we were all great friends. They pushed me to go the extra mile in my workout while caring for me individually as a person. I wasn’t expecting these types of relationships at all. I’m happy to say that this place definitely felt like a happy functioning family.

What is this place exactly?

Great question. 🙂 9 Round is a very small gym that offers 9 Rounds of intense cardio training. You show up and jump right into the 1st round. (My recommendation is to stretch before you jump in to warm your body up. If you don’t, you will regret it later.) Before you start round 1, the trainers will demonstrate what circuits you will perform for 3 minutes. Once you start, you are on your own to complete as many tasks from that circuit before the 3 minutes is up. A buzzer will go off signifying 30 seconds remaining. After the 1st circuit, you have another 30 seconds of active resting. This can be used to do a plank, wall sits, certain ab exercises, jumping jacks, squats, etc. The trainers use the active resting time to demonstrate the next round for each person. The buzzer sounds one more time and lights up GREEN, and then it is off to Round 2. Each round is completely different. The first two are typically cardio and strength building. Once you are at Round 3, you begin engaging in various kick boxing workouts. While at Rounds 3-8, the trainers work with you individually to do one-on-one exercises. It usually involves punching and kicking (It’s great if you need to let out any aggression). You finish with Round 9 (hence the name of the gym) by doing some type of ab and core workout. And voila! You are done! 30 minutes of a great workout.
